I also think I might be spoiled by seeing Legend of Galactic Heroes from beginning to end. Yang Wen-Li, the genius admiral of the democratic Federation Navy, uses brilliant tactics because he is basically too lazy to carry out an operation using the "traditional" military thinking of his day. I wonder if any of the Honorverse characters display that kind of conflict of being.

I'm also very curious about these "Prolong" issues you speak of. Is there a problem in that series of people being way older than they look? Is time dilation involved?

Claudia Christian?!? Well, I suppose, though I think she's already too old for the part, and short besides. I live in fear that Hollyweird would cast someone like Angelina Jolie as Honor and CG the treecats. But really, how many 6 foot tall, strikingly handsome, young actresses with charisma and gravitas are there? Any adaptation would likely gloss over the Prolong issues, like aparent vs. actual age and its impact on societies with or without it.

Yeah, dedicated fan to Honor Harrington over here, at least up through book 10. After that, Weber pissed me off by including all the anthologies and spinoffs as legitimate backstory, so following the main plot requires the other volumes just to follow it. Argh, I coulda killed him.
